Meet Mrs. Thompson!
Hello! I am incredibly thankful to be teaching 5th grade again this year! This is my 13th year teaching at Wilson. It's hard to believe I'm saying that- it has flown by! I'm married and have two boys- Jay & Wyatt! Personally, I enjoy reading, pets, spending time with family and friends, and outdoor sports such as running, hiking, and water skiing. I graduated with my undergraduate degree from Illinois State University and completed my Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Concordia University Chicago. We live here in Pekin with our two cats, Benny and Asher.
I am very excited to be on this journey through the year with my students as they explore the world around them and learn about themselves and others in the process! I am convinced that 5th graders are absolutely the BEST age to teach! Each previous year has been such a wonderful learning experience, and I know that I will see each of us- students and teacher alike- develop academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the year. I am thrilled to have a part in nurturing and challenging these children to grow into lifelong learners and creative, confident individuals, especially in the face of the circumstances surrounding this year. Thank you, parents and guardians, in advance for your support as we work together throughout the year!
